Its the start of the year and a lot of people returning to work will be spending their time daydreaming about the places they might go to on holiday this year. There’s many choices so lets try and figure out exactly what matters to you on your time off.
Imagine you go to the travel agent and they offer you 3 choices, which do you pick:
- two tickets for a shared room on an all expenses paid vacation to anywhere in the world of your choice for two weeks. However the 2nd ticket has already been given to a stranger who snores.
- two weeks all expenses paid vacation anywhere in the UK. You get to choose who comes with you and the weather will be typical British weather (Mild with a bit of rain).
- You get granted double your yearly paid time off work, however you aren’t allowed to travel further than 10km of your house during that time.
So what is it going to be? are you selfish enough to leave your family/partner behind for a luxury trip of a life time with good ear plugs? or maybe time away from work is better for your relaxation. Imagine having close to 60 paid days off to pursue your hobbies! (as long as those hobbies remained local).
stick your answers in the comments below. If you’ve already booked your time away for this year feel free to make everyone else jealous by telling us about it.
The UK is awesome so definitely number 2 😀 There are plenty of very cool places to hike and explore, and a holiday would be no fun without my partner there.

Well I guess it’d have to be #2! There are plenty of places (beautiful ones!) I haven’t been to in the UK. Would I be allowed to go in the ‘summer’, at least? Ok, I take it back. It doesn’t stop raining in July… #bestandworst

You could go whatever season you want, where would you choose?

I think I’d choose c! Especially once I go back to work. Hubby and Iove time together with the family and I don’t think we would mind staying close or just at home! Thanks for sharing with #bestandworst x

My gut says 2 – I love the UK and would want to share this with my partner. If it wasn’t for the fact that I am a stay at home mum and not allowed any paid holiday I would be tempted at 3 too because I want to knit, sew, hobby away to my hearts content. Can someone take the kid off me for 60 days so I can have the time to do this!! Thanks for linking up to #familyfun

This is probably a cheat since I don’t live in the UK but I’d pick option number two with my husband.

Feel free to apply the same question to your own country. 🙂 I try to be inclusive with these choices.

I’d pick the second one. I love travelling abroad, but there are so many places in the UK that I haven’t seen yet. And I’m quite hardened to the british weather! #familyfun

I’ve always wanted to go to Cornwall, but we live in Durham so it’s quite a trek. I’d also like to visit a few more Scottish islands, but again, they’re quite a journey, especially with a toddler!

I’d pick option 3. I’d love my for my husband to spend more time at home with us. And we live in beautiful Yorkshire so I don’t mind not being able to go far, there’s plenty on our doorstep. #PoCoLo

Third option definitely. I have so many hobbies and so little time to pursue them. Also, I could always get friends to visit me!

good point, don’t think anyone else has taken the “make my house a holiday for others” angle.

I’d be happy with any of the three choices, i travel on my own regular to new and familiar places and stayed with people I’ve never met before. The UK would be the obvious choice though as i live in Dubai, but if you’d asked me this last year when I was working I’d have opted for option 3. Trips booked this year, Luxor, next week for a long weekend with hubby. UK for April and back to the UK in June on an open ticket. Popping over from #PoCoLo

Number 2! The UK is a fab place to go holidaying, even if the weather isn’t perfect. Thank you for sharing with the #DreamTeam. Which would you choose?

Thanks for your reply. I think i’d lean towards number 3, all the extra time off would be spent on hobbies locally and any big holiday plans can be postponed for a year.
